Windows VISTA Support

Our product TimeCalc Classic™ has been updated and extensively tested for use under the Windows VISTA operating system, and is now fully supported for Windows XP and Windows VISTA.  When installing TimeCalc Classic™, just be sure you are logged in as an administrator DURING the installation.

Our other products, TimeCalc 2000 and TimeCalc ET Professional are currently under evaluation for VISTA compatibility.  Both products will currently run under Windows VISTA, however, the installation and initial run of these products must be performed as an administrator.  Also, you may need to consult with an IT professional to have appropriate access rights/permissions applied to allow the use of the program as an "ordinary" user.  These products are not, as yet, officially supported under VISTA, but we are not aware of any particular problems in using them in the VISTA environment.

Important Installation Note

Some Windows VISTA systems are configured such that, even as administrator, additional steps must be taken to run a program as administrator.  In "UAC" (User Account Control) mode (the default setup for VISTA), even when logged in as an administrator, you must explicitly give permission to any program that is to have administrative rights.

On systems that are set up to use UAC mode, you must specifically request administrative access rights when you run a that requires them.

Since installing any of the TimeCalc programs requires administrator rights for the initial setup the following steps should be used.

  • First, be sure you are logged in as an administrator.  If you don't know, you should confirm this with your computer administrator before beginning.
  • If you download the setup program to your computer, to run it with administrative rights, RIGHT-CLICK the setup program's icon and select RUN AS.  This will allow you to elevate the program's status to administrator.

After installation, TimeCalc 2000 and TimeCalc ET Professional require administrative rights the first time they are run.  So, under VISTA, you should right-click the icon and use "RUN AS" to elevate the permissions for the first run (and, if you purchase the product, when you install the permanent license key).  Other than in these instances, ordinary users can run these programs as required without difficulty.

TimeCalc Classic has been updated so that it does not require administrative rights for its initial run or for updating the license key.

Should you have difficulty with the installation process, please submit a support request and we will be pleased to assist you with the installation process.
